Background of Service.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) was a Commonwealth Initiative commenced in 1985. (Then known as HACC) This is a means of intergrating a range of services for people who are frail aged, younger disabled and the carers of those people to facilitate the client to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.

The CHSP program is a State/Territory and Federally funded project, and "Tumut District Community Transport" is a sub-program of CHSP.

This program is currently administered through the NSW Transport & Infrastructure, and is auspiced by the Snowy Valleys Council.

The area we are funded to service is the Tumut Region.

There is also funding from the NSW State Health Department to help assist our general communities access Health Professionals. This is known as HRT funding. (Health Related Transport)

We also have funding from the NSW Transport & Infrastructure which covers transport for the Communities of Brungle, Talbingo, Adelong & Batlow. This is known as CTP funding, (Community Transport Program) which addresses the Isolation of these Communities.

Statement

We provide transport for people in our Communities, who are frail aged, people who have a disability, and for their carer's!

We provide this service so that they may keep medical appointments, go shopping, and for recreational trips.

One of our aims is to assist people to remain living in their own homes, for as long as possible!

We also address the needs of those people who are isolated, and transport disadvantaged - in conjunction with our C.H.S.P clients -

We use our Wheel-chair modified - 11 seater Mercedes 'Sprinter', our Toyota 'Hi-Ace' and our 4 Honda Odyssey station wagons to round off our fleet.

We have one full time driver, but it is the Volunteers who do the majority of the driving for the 1200+ trips per year!

Wonderful people from our Community who donate their time, so that the needs of the Local Community, are met and achieved.

Many of these trips are to Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Albury, and of course our Local trips.

Over 165,000 kilometres travelled again, in the 2015 year and still growing!
(up about 50,000 klms on 2011)
